## How it works

1. Pick a hotel: paste a link or search. Works with a hotel found anywhere else.
2. The agent asks on your behalf: it reaches the reservations desk and asks for
   availability and their best unpublished rate.
3. You get a real quote: a named price, held for 24 hours. Nothing is charged
   until you accept.

A browser extension (planned) requests a quote from the hotel page you are on.

## Why there is a discount

Booking platforms charge hotels 15 to 25 percent commission per reservation.
ratecla.im charges five. The gap is the traveller's discount.

## For hotels

Five percent instead of 15 to 25. Requests arrive pre-qualified with the
guest's card authorised. Rates given to ratecla.im are never published, never
scraped, and never visible to a hotel's OTA channels.

## Rate parity

Rate parity clauses were dropped across the European Economic Area in
November 2024 under the Digital Markets Act. Where parity still applies, it
covers a hotel's public website, not closed unpublished rates of the kind
hotels quote corporate and member guests.
